We all have stress in our lives. In fact, did you know that chronic stress is linked to 6 of the leading causes of death?  So, you owe it to yourself to de-stress. What better way than to create your own spa at home!

Here are a few tips to do just that!

  1. Get rid of any disruptions or distractions. Let your family or roommates know, so they can give you some space. Turn off your cell phone and unplug your landline (if you have one)
  2. Set the mood: Get an essential oil diffuser and light some candles!
  3. Make detox water: Add some of your favorite fruit to filtered water or try some of THESE RECIPES. or one of the combinations below:Refreshing Spa drinks for spa day at home
  4. Gather your supplies: Get into a comfy robe and slippers and gather your spa recipes.
  5. Steam your pores: Fill a bowl with steamy water, put a towel over your head and relax for 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. Take care of your feet!
  7. Pamper your face
  8. Use a body scrub – Hop in the shower and wash down with your favorite body scrub
  9. Apply a hair mask 
  10. Take a hot bath. with your favorite bath salts

Lime & Mint Foot Soak Recipe

DIY Foot Soak Recipe at TidyMom.net

To make the foot soak, combine 2 cups of Epsom salts with 1/2 cup baking soda and zest of one lime in a large bowl, and add  3-4 drops of lime essential oil and 3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil. Stir with wooden spoon to mix thoroughly. (optional, you could add just a drop of green food coloring if you’d like) Pour the mixture into a jaror bag, and use within a few weeks.

*store in a cool dark place, like refrigerator if using lime zest.  If you’d like it to keep longer, omit the zest.
