Ok, enough about the weather and on to the post.

Life is ever changing, and when situations take us out of our comfort zone, we should embrace it because that’s when the magic happens.

Here are a couple of mind hacks to step out of your comfort zone and start living a happier life:

Take baby steps to challenge yourself

Start by smiling at random people. I know it sounds nuts, but studies show that when you smile at people you also create a positive experience for yourself – smiling (even a forced smile) is proven to make the brain produce endorphins which are the happiness hormones. When you smile to someone their brain automatically responds with a smile as well, so you are not only become happier and healthier but help others achieve the same.

Ask yourself the hard questions

What is the worst that could happen? Could I survive it? What is the best that could happen? Would I or others benefit from it? Are there downsides to remaining where I am? What is holding me back? This simple technique elevates thinking.

Be your own motivational speaker

Envision yourself with a bright glow. Repeat an empowering phrase to yourself along with a strong feeling: “I’m safe,” “I’m cool wherever I go,” “I can do this,” “my challenges help me grow,” I am free of worry and anxiety” or “I can do hard things.” This reduces your body’s stress response and gives you the confidence to step out of your comfort zone.

Become friendly with your discomfort

Stepping outside of your comfort zone is outright scary.  Therefore, to break the habit, you have to become familiar with discomfort. One way to do this is to pick one thing each day that scares you and go do it. Once you do it a couple of times over several weeks, it will become your new normal.

Collaborate with your Bestie and Conquer

Don’t do this alone. Enlist your bestie, or a mentor with whom you can share your fears. Ask them how they got through their fears, or struggles of stepping outside of their comfort zone. Not only will this collaboration give you a shoulder to lean on, but you will also learn new tricks as well have a person who will hold you accountable to follow through on your new adventure.

Sending joy and love vibes!  💋
