WHAT’S YOUR DAILY BEAUTY ROUTINE?

Now that fall is here, it’s time to switch it up a bit with your regular beauty routine. If you’re like me where you don’t like to spend a ton of money on beauty products, then you will love today’s post. I chatted with former model Ingrid Levin. She is NYC based and has many years of experience in the beauty industry.

Ingrid is also the creator and founder of the new Ingrid Madison Blog. Named after her first name and the famous Madison Avenue in New York City, Ingrid gives advice and shares her thoughts on beauty, culture, lifestyle, relationships, technology, and travel.

Ingrid has traveled to beautiful places all over the world, such as the Amalfi Coast, Nantucket, Monaco, and Ibiza. A lover of all things beauty, Ingrid enjoys trying new beauty products and writing about the latest beauty trends.

She was very kind to speak with Good Life Detroit and share her knowledge about the benefits of using Bio-Oil® as part of your daily skincare routine.

WHAT IS BIO-OIL®?

First, what is Bio-Oil®? Ingrid told me Bio-Oil® is an oil used for many applications. It originated from South Africa about 25 years ago and it can really hydrate your skin. For instance, if you mix Bio-Oil® with your daily lotion, it can give your skin an extra boost of hydration.

BIO-OIL® CAN BE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING SKIN ISSUES:

aging skin

chicken pox

dry skin

insect bites

new scars

old scars

post-surgery

scratches

stretch marks

uneven skin tone

1. UV RAYS CAN BE HARSH ON OUR SKIN

Ingrid recommends using Bio-Oil® to hydrate your skin. The weather during the spring and summer seasons can be very harsh on our skin. This can be problematic because, during the spring and summer months, your skin can still be affected by UV rays, even if you use sunscreen.

This is especially true if you already have uneven skin tone or hyperpigmentation. The UV rays will accentuate it giving you light circles around your upper face. “It’s a variety of things that cause [skin issues] during the summer months,” Ingrid says. “By September, they really set in so it’s really helpful in the fall and winter when the days are shorter and there’s less sun.”

2. BIO-OIL® CAN BE USED AS A MAKEUP REMOVER

Another great benefit of Bio-Oil® is it works really great as a makeup remover. Bio-Oil® is safe to use on your face because of its natural ingredients. It features vitamins and other natural aspects so it won’t clog your pores. This brings me to the third great reason why Bio-Oil® is good to use.

3. BIO-OIL® WON’T CLOG YOUR PORES

If you have oily skin like I do, no worries. Ingrid says Bio-Oil® can also be used on oily skin. She suggests using a lesser amount of the oil, though, and also pair it with a charcoal-based cleanser like Bioré.

Combining Bio-Oil® and a charcoal-based cleanser will balance out your oily skin so your pores don’t clog.

4. BIO-OIL® IS AN INEXPENSIVE SKINCARE REGIMEN

Bio-Oil® is an “inexpensive way to really hydrate your skin, especially with hyperpigmentation skin”,  Ingrid says. It also benefits your skin if you have had excessive exposure to the sun from the summer.

You can get Bio-Oil® at any drugstore like Walgreens or even at Target. Here are a few options from Target.
