Tech day Sunday – Turn your mobile into boring mode to stop your addiction

Ever stay up for endless hours playing Candy Crush, reading any and all things social media feeds mean, or nice Tweets, along with mindless flipping through Flipboard?

You can now stop yourself from getting more addicted to your phone by turning it into a dull black and white screen. It’s called Grayscale, which you can find under the settings menu. It removes all the colors from your phone.

By making the phone less appealing, it triggers your brain to tune out. Draining the color from the screen only makes it less attractive to look at and eliminates all the tricks the developers used to keep you a slave.

A bonus: migraine sufferers could find relief just by changing the color to black and white.

Here is a tutorial for iPhones:

go to Settings > General > Accessibility >Display Accommodations >Colour Filters. Switch Colour Filters on and select Greyscale. To easily toggle between color and greyscale, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut > Colour Filters. Now, you just press the home button three times to enable greyscale. Triple-click again to go back to color.

Tutorial for Galaxy S5 (and possibly other Samsung devices):

Go to Settings > About Device (under “System”)
Tap on “Build Number” repeatedly until it tells you that Developer Options have been enabled.
Go to Settings > Developer Options (under “System”)
Select “Simulate color space” (under “Hardware-accelerated rendering”)
Select “Monochromacy”

Sending relaxing Sunday vibes! 💋
