Derma Roller Review

I have been reading about Derma Rollers for the last year, but I was not daring enough to give it a try because it looked painful. Plus, I am not a fan of any form of needles.

I finally summoned the strength to try one when the Derma Roller System Company offered me a Derma Roller to sample.

The Derma Roller comes in: 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, and 2.5mm. I used the 0.5mm as I am a newbie.

Derma Rollers are the best form to naturally smooth the skin to fill in wrinkles as new collagen and elastin are produced in those areas. It only takes 5-15 minutes; I used the derma roller for 3 days.

Check out these before and after photos.

As you can see my skin after 3 treatments was glowy, dewy, and appears well rested. My before picture was dull, and my skin did not look full of life.

To my surprise, it was not painful. I think the “micro-needling” term sounded painful to me, but the pain was faint. However, a needle size of 1.5 mm and above may be painful. If you have a very low pain tolerance or are rolling your derma roller over a particularly sensitive area of the skin. There are over-the-counter numbing creams you can purchase that will ease any temporary discomfort.

Here are the Derma Roller benefits:

Scars – It can stimulate collagen and elastin, which repairs skin irregularities.

Sun Damage – Because collagen is the skin’s great internal healer, derma rolling works well to rejuvenate and repair sun-damaged skin. It also speeds up recovery by boosting the absorption and efficacy of topical treatment products.

Hyperpigmentation – A derma roller will be most useful for hyperpigmentation if the irregularities are closer to the skin surface. For deeper-layer issues, it may take more sessions of derma rolling to see results. It repairs hyperpigmentation by normalizing pigment cells (Melanocytes), peeling of the skin and increasing the absorption and efficacy of your topical skin lightening products.

Rosacea – It can improve the appearance of rosacea by thickening the epidermis and stimulating collagen growth, thus minimizing redness. It improves the delivery and efficacy of active ingredients from your topical treatment products. Important Note: Dermaroller cannot treat and should not be used on “nodular” and “pustular” rosacea.

Stretch marks – By stimulating collagen production in the skin, a derma roller can reduce the prominence of stretch marks, but you shouldn’t expect dramatic results. 3 to 12 treatments are required to see visible results.

Hair loss – It can stimulate the scalp by stimulating blood flow and producing more of the hormones required to promote hair growth and increase follicle and hair size.

Deeper wrinkles are less noticeable after 3 to 12 treatments depending on the severity of your lines.

Low recovery time – Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments have a recovery time of 2 to 8 weeks, but derma roller has only 2 to 7 day recovery time.

Little side effects – Unlike other invasive treatments with painful side effects such as oozing skin, inflammation, irritation, hyper/hypo-pigmentation, and sun sensitivity, micro needling has minimal side effects. You will experience slight redness and peeling. They usually disappear after 2 to 7 days.

It is important to note that you will peel in some areas of your skin. I peeled a little bit on my chin. I did not use my Retin A medication as it would be too drying for the skin. If you use any Retinol or any products with Glycolic Acid, I recommend you do not use them the same week you will be using the Derma Roller as it will irritate your skin.

The Derma Roller usually retails for $199.00, but now it is on sale for $89.95. Click here to buy.

This is definitely going to be a staple in my beauty arsenal as it is the best and inexpensive way to achieve the anti aging benefits naturally.

Sending weekend beauty vibes! 💋

Yes! The first time I used it, the tingling stinging pain was not too painful, but not enjoyable either. It takes time to get used to it. I cannot believe though how it has helped my skin without having to go to a med spa for the treatment. I am on my 4th treatment total. xx
