How Blue Green Algae is your skin’s BFF

Blue Green Algae is an old plant that has been around for billions of years, with fossils found in Australia dated 3.5 billion years old. It’s used as a source of dietary protein, B-vitamins, beta-carotene, and iron, as well as biologically active enzymes, chlorophyll, fatty acids, and neuropeptides. It’s also a good source of arginine, known to build muscle tone, and contains all eight essential amino acids, as well as some copper, magnesium, zinc, and potassium.

As it is water-based by nature, blue-green algae provide moisturization and purifying hydration, helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Research has also found that blue-green algae have properties that make it ideal for sensitive skin.

There’s, even more, evidence that it can reduce signs of aging caused by exposure to UV light as well as help patients who have atopic dermatitis and acne.

The only downside of this magical potion is that it tastes awful. I usually add one ice-cube (1 oz) to my smoothie.

I buy my algae from E-3 Alive, which arrives frozen. All you have to do is put it in your fridge, let it thaw out, grab your ice-cube tray and pour it in each slot. Everyday you can pick a cube and it to your juice, or smoothie.
